Bucks vs. Nuggets Prediction

The Milwaukee Bucks have lost in the first round in each of the past two seasons. Against Miami, they didn't have Giannis Antetokounmpo for part of the series. Las year, against Indiana, they didn't have their superstar at all. This year, they might be without Damian Lillard in the first round.

Lillard is averaging 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game, but has missed the past three games. Last night, it was announced that Lillard has a blood clot in his right calf and is out indefinitely. The Bucks have still won two of their past three games and will conclude their trip tonight in Denver.

Milwaukee has gotten contributions across the board, particularly from Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez and Gary Trent Jr. Kuzma has scored in double figures in each of his past five games, while Lopez has reached the plateau in seven of his past eight games. Trent has scored double digits in seven straight games, including a 23-point performance with six 3s against the Lakers. The trio has helped the Bucks supply enough offense around Antetokounmpo, who has been his usual dominant self lately.

The Bucks may have their multiple MVP winner available tonight (questionable), but Denver likely will not — Nikola Jokic is doubtful with a left ankle injury. Jokic has missed Denver's past five games and Denver is 2-3 in that span.

Jamal Murray has missed a couple of those games, but has scored 67 points in his past two games and has a strong matchup tonight against Milwaukee. Russell Westbrook should also benefit. He has scored at least 12 points in each of his past eight games. However, he will also have a major impact as a playmaker.

Even with Jokic, the Nuggets aren't the deepest team in the world. Their scoring tonight will likely be concentrated between Murray, Westbrook, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr. and Christian Braun. Gordon is also questionable, but has been hot from 3 of late with two or more 3s in six of his past 10 games, including four games with at least four.

Bucks vs. Nuggets Pick

On Monday night, I was on the Nuggets over against the Bulls, and that game finished with 248 points. The over is 23-12 in Denver's home games this season and 7-3 in their past 10 games, including 4-1 in recent games without Jokic. Additionally, at least 223 points have been scored in five of the past nine meetings between these teams. With that in mind, I will be backing the over tonight with this total being a bit low for a Denver home game.

Murray, Westbrook and Lopez are a few players I expect to help us reach that over. Murray has scored 20 points or more in five of his past seven games and in three of his past four games against Milwaukee.

Murray often creates for himself, although he may have a few baskets assisted by Westbrook.

Meanwhile, Lopez has scored 21 and 23 points in his past two games. Whether Antetokounmpo plays, the hit rate does not change. He has scored 15 points in five of his past eight games, both with and without Antetokounmpo.

Best Bet

  • Over 222.5 (-110, Fanatics)

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • Jamal Murray 20 Points
  • Brook Lopez 15 Points
  • Russell Westbrook Over 5.5 Assists

Parlay Payout: +275 via Fanatics
