Throughout his time at Wisconsin, running back Jonathan Taylor was able to produce nearly 2,000 yards rushing on 300 rushing attempts each year while maintaining his health. Despite his great performance, Taylor fell out of the first round before the Indianapolis Colts snatched him up in the second.

The Colts have an established roster with maybe the best offensive line in football. Taylor will most likely begin the season behind Marlon Mack until he acclimates to the NFL game. However, Mack has been hit with nagging injuries each year and never played a full season. One game out for him might be all Taylor needs to show he should be the leader of this running back group.

Indy's addition of veteran quarterback Philip Rivers is expected to improve this passing attack from its 30th ranking last season, plus having deep threats like T.Y. Hilton and Parris Campbell should help pull defenders away from the line of scrimmage. This will all be good news for a running back like Taylor, who can use his speed and explosiveness to run through opposing defensive backs.

That said, the competition for work might be a big uphill battle for Taylor, who has struggled as a pass catcher both in college and in training camp, according to reports. This could quickly cause Taylor to come off the field in games where the Colts are behind right away. But Taylor should fit into the role as the punishing runner used to close out games.

The defense also added DeForest Buckner to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, so it will be the defensive backfield that needs to step up to help stop opposing offenses. Thanks to All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard, the Colts ranked seventh in rushing yards allowed yet all the way down at 23rd in passing yards surrendered. While the defensive backs are young,  gaining more experience and improving along the way can allow Taylor to thrive and possibly pad his rushing yards in the fourth quarter.

The lines have been coming in fairly consistently for Taylor's rushing yards at about 700. BetMGM is the only book that stood out, but only by a little with a higher number at 725.5. This is again a reminder to always shop at different books, as a free 25 yards can be had by just clicking another book like DraftKings. These totals do come in low compared to our PRO package projections of 837 rushing yards. With the books coming in about 137 yards under the projection, there is a nice chunk of value to be had in following the over.

PICK: Take the over on rushing yards up to about 750.
