The Betting Insider’s Brewers vs Cubs Preview

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Brewers hand the ball to Jacob Misiorowski, their top pitching prospect, for just his second career MLB start. He was electric in his debut against the Cardinals, tossing five no-hit innings while averaging 99 mph with his fastball and touching 102 mph. He paired that with a devastating slider that sat just under 95 mph. Misiorowski’s outing was cut short after he rolled his ankle walking back to the mound, but he’s healthy and ready to go tonight.

While we don’t have much MLB data on him, his minor-league track record suggests the talent is real. Over the past two seasons in AAA, he posted a 2.22 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP and racked up 102 strikeouts across 81 innings. He’ll face a Cubs lineup that’s been struggling mightily — and the weather should only work in his favor. Over the past 14 days, the Cubs rank 25th in runs scored, 26th in wRC+ and last in on-base percentage.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

Jameson Taillon has been quietly excellent for Chicago in the absence of ace Justin Steele. Over his past five starts, Taillon is 5-0 with a 1.90 ERA and a 0.76 WHIP. He’s been especially good at home, allowing a .182 opponent batting average across 43 innings at Wrigley Field and sporting a 2.72 ERA in those starts.

He’s not a strikeout machine — his K-rate sits around 20% — but he doesn’t issue many walks and consistently limits hard contact. His ability to pitch to soft contact plays particularly well in Wrigley when the wind is blowing in, which is exactly what we’re seeing tonight.

Brewers vs Cubs Betting Analysis

Few stadiums are as weather-sensitive as Wrigley Field, and tonight’s setup screams “under.” Temperatures are expected to sit in the mid-60s, with inward blowing wind near 10 mph. Historically, when the wind blows in at Wrigley, totals tend to stay low –especially when combined with quality pitching and cold bats. All of this has triggered a few of The Betting Insider’s strongest systems for tonight's game.

System 1) Both teams have recently been going under, fair weather, home team favored (68% win rate, 28% ROI)

  • Both teams have gone under the closing total in at least 3 out of their last 4 games
  • Average temperature below 85 degrees
  • Wind direction is NOT out
  • Less than 50% of public bets are on the under
  • Home team favored, up to -300

System 2) Early season unders, wind blowing in (64% win rate, 23% ROI)

  • The wind direction is “in”, “from left”, or “from right”
  • Wind speed of at least 3 mph
  • Before game #75
  • Average temperature is no higher than 70 degrees
  • Home ML range between -220 and +150
  • Less than 60% of public bets are on the under

Pick: Under 8 (-109)
