Many sports bettors are unaware that it's possible to mail winning tickets made at Las Vegas casinos for payment after you've left Nevada. While you can't place wagers at Vegas sportsbooks outside of the state, as long as the bet/transaction takes place inside Nevada's borders, you can still get paid through the mail.
So if you want to bet on futures, like your favorite NFL team to win the Super Bowl or a college basketball sleeper to cut down the nets, but can't hang around Vegas forever, this is a legitimate option for getting paid.
In fact, on my most recent trip to Las Vegas, I had an early flight home to get back to the East Coast at a decent hour. As a result, some of my bets were graded after I had already gone to bed on my last day in Vegas.
And since I had to leave for the airport early the next morning, I didn't have an opportunity to run around and get them all cashed.
In order to get paid, I mailed my winning tickets per the instructions on the back of the slip. Here's a picture of one of my tickets placed at a Caesars sportsbook:
For this particular situation, I followed the instructions by filling in my name and information, then writing "Mail Pay" on the back of the ticket.
I then chose to send it via registered mail to the address provided.
You don't necessarily have to pay for registered mail if you don't want to, but it is recommended by many Las Vegas casinos to protect your betting tickets. It's up to you to determine if the value of your winner(s) is worth the cost of registered mail.
Just over two weeks later — 15 days to be exact — my checks from Caesars arrived, ready to be deposited.
