Once a league dominated by the New York Yankees, we now find ourself in a time where the Bronx Bombers haven't won the pennant in over 10 years. The Houston Astros have been the favorites in the AL in recent years, representing the league in the World Series in three of the past five World Series' and winning it all in 2017 -- we all know what happened that year though. Will Houston win the pennant again in 2022? Will the Yankees finally get back on top?

Houston and New York are both among the best teams in the league, but there are a number of teams also capable of winning the American League.

Who's the favorite to win the AL Pennant?

Here are the odds via PointsBet to win the AL Pennant:

1. Yankees logoNew York Yankees (+150)

Always a favorite, but the Yankees have yet to return to the World Series since winning it all in 2009. New York has had extremely high expectations from its fanbase ever since its group of young talent pushed the Astros to Game 7 of the 2017 ALCS. That young talent isn't so young anymore and the team looks a lot different since then, but they're still a very powerful team that's filled with star power -- see Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gerrit Cole for more details.

2. Astros logoHouston Astros (+220)

The AL Pennant winners in three of the past five seasons, the Astros continue to stay relevant despite the cheating scandal and a number of losses in free agency. George Springer, Gerrit Cole and Carlos Correa are all gone, but Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Justin Verlander remain and newcomers, such as AL Rookie of the Year candidate Jeremy Peña, have stepped up. Oh, and don't forget about Yordan Alvarez providing power in the middle of the lineup. Does Houston have enough to make it back to the World Series?

3.Blue Jays logoToronto Blue Jays (+800)

The young and talented Blue Jays just barely missed the playoffs last season. However, the 2021 campaign did show what this team is capable of and set the tone for the future. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are leading the way with the veteran help of George Springer at the plate and in the field. Toronto underwent a managerial change late in the first half, though the team is still in contention and has an offense capable of beating anyone in the league.

4. Rays logo Tampa Bay Rays (+1400)

Tampa Bay made it to the World Series during the shortened 2020 season, but has felt like an AL contender for the past three to four seasons. They've mostly kept their tight-knit group together -- besides trading away Blake Snell -- and the rise of Randy Arozarena keeps elevating the club. They've got the fifth best odds in the league, but are surrounded by several other AL East contenders. What's in store for the Rays this time around?

5. White Sox logoChicago White Sox (+1600)

Chicago has been building its roster up for some time now and is finally looking to cash in. With Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson and Co., the White Sox are ready to contend -- especially as the AL Central remains wide open. Could this be the year we see the other side of Chicago return to the World Series and win it all? The White Sox didn't play to their capabilities in the first half, but the AL Central is certainly winnable and if a talented Chicago teams gets into the postseason, anything can happen.
