Start Jermar Jefferson or Godwin Igwebuike? Fantasy Football Rankings for Lions Running Backs Without D’Andre Swift & Jamaal Williams

The Detroit Lions will be severely limited with injuries and sickness, including the running back room with D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams out. That opens the door for Jermar Jefferson and Godwin Igwebuike against the Denver Broncos.

But should either one be in your fantasy football starting lineup Sunday?

Swift will miss the game with a shoulder injury and Williams is on the COVID-19 reserve list.

Fantasy managers have seen very little of either Jefferson or Igwebuike. Jefferson has 10 carries on the year for 65 yards with two touchdowns. Igwebuike has eight carries for 93 yards and a touchdown; he's also caught five balls for 49 yards.

It doesn't seem to be a favorable game script for Detroit running backs as an 11.5-point underdog against the Broncos with a total of 42. But someone on the Lions has to touch the ball. Will it be the backs?

Jefferson and Igwebuike are RB28 and RB29, respectively, in our consensus rankings.

That puts them ahead of running backs Alex Collins, Ty Johnson and Devin Singletary.

"Igwebuike offers the best floor/ceiling combo as he’ll operate as the main pass-catching back," Sean Koerner said. The Lions are underdogs which means it should be a game script that favors Igwebuike’s role more."

The Lions and Broncos are a late afternoon kick in the second window of the day, which means managers may have to make a decision sooner than later.
