After Game 5

The Heat dominated Game 5 from the jump at home as they ran away from the 76ers in the second half of their 120-85 win. Jimmy Butler led all scorers with 23 points as the series shifts back to Philadelphia for Game 6. The Heat's odds to win the series moved from -155 to -380 while the 76ers' odds moved from +135 to +300.

After Game 4

Joel Embiid and James Harden carried the 76ers to victory. Jimmy Butler scored 40 points for the Heat, but it wasn't enough as Harden went for 31 and Embiid scored 24 while grabbing 11 rebounds. The 76ers went from +285 to win the series to +135 and the Heat went from -380 to -155.

After Game 3

After initially being ruled out on Thursday, Joel Embiid played in Game 3 at home for the 76ers as they put together a strong defensive performance and beat the Heat 99-79. The 76ers odds to win the series got shorter from +500 to +285. The Heat's odds to win the series moved from -800 to -380.

After Game 2

The Heat took a 2-0 series lead after winning Game 2 at home 119-103. Their odds to win the series went from -500 to -800, and the 76ers' odds jumped from +350 to +500.

After Game 1

The Heat jumped out to an early 14-point first quarter lead, but the 76ers rallied in the second quarter to take a 51-50 halftime lead. The Heat answered back with a strong second half, eventually leading by as many as 21 points as Tyler Herro led all scorers with 25 points in their 106-92 home win.

Oddsmakers have made the Heat even heavier favorites to win the series, boosting them from -350 to -500 after Game 1. Joel Embiid will remain out for at least Game 2, and his status after that is unclear.

Miami Heat

The Heat dominated the Atlanta Hawks with their smothering defense for five games.

The Hawks were held below 100 points three of the five games of the series and Trae Young never gained his composure in Round 1 and every game of the series went under the total. Miami had the second-best Net Rating of the NBA Playoffs (+11.8) and the second-best Defensive Rating (104.1) in Round 1.

The Heat have some injury concerns — Jimmy Butler (knee), Tyler Herro (illness), Kyle Lowry (hamstring), Caleb Martin (knee) and PJ Tucker (calf) — but the Heat will also have nearly a week between games to rest.

Philadelphia 76ers

The big story is Joel Embiid's indefinite absence at the start of this series after suffering an injury in Game 5 against the Toronto Raptors. His injury swung the series odds, moving the Sixers from +135 to win the series outright to +325 — in simpler terms, their implied odds dropped from 40.88% to 22.33%.

For Game 1, the 76ers were 4.5-point underdogs, but moved to 8.5-point dogs on Friday night. According to John Ewing of BetMGM, the sportsbook moved the 76ers’ NBA title odds for 14-1 pre-injury to 18-1 after the injury.
