FanDuel is launching a new tool called My Spend to help users track their igaming expenses and manage their budgets more effectively.
This tool is now available across all FanDuel platforms, including Casino, Sportsbook, Fantasy, Racing, and Faceoff.
"FanDuel believes our customers should always have a budget and plan in mind when they engage with our products, and we are thrilled to introduce My Spend to help customers track their spending and manage their play," said Alison Kutler, Vice President, Responsible Gaming and Community Impact at FanDuel. "As we look to continuously raise the standard for what it means to be a responsible operator, we look forward to continuing to bring new and innovative ways to support our customers."
How Does the “My Spend” Tool Work?
When players log in, they can view their personal statistics, such as the amount of money they have deposited with FanDuel and their net winnings over the last seven days, four weeks, and three months.
The My Spend dashboard also encourages customers to use FanDuel's existing responsible gaming tools, such as deposit and wager limits.
The company developed this tool after players expressed a desire for more personalized insights into their activity, allowing them to better understand their own behavior.
Toll Added to Other FanDuel RG Programs
The new FanDuel responsible gaming tool is being added to its current efforts to combat the problem. All betting ads state that they are intended for individuals over 18, and they must also include messages promoting safer gambling.
FanDuel also started the RG Ambassador Program in 2021 to create a team of external partners who act as advocates and ambassadors. They aim to raise awareness about problem gambling and promote responsible gaming education.
These ambassadors, which include professional golfer Tom Kim and two-time FIFA Player of the Year Carli Lloyd, help encourage positive play and responsible behaviors by promoting the use of gaming tools like My Spend, along with deposit, wager, and time limits.
Responsible Gambling Efforts Improving on State Level
The National Council on Problem Gambling recently compared the responsible gambling rules in U.S. states where mobile sports betting is legal as of June 2024. They matched state laws and regulations against their own Internet Responsible Gambling Standards (IRGS). This report did not include legal online casinos. It only pertains to sports betting regulations.
Its goal is to help states find gaps in their current laws and regulations, giving them a guide to improve consumer protection and encourage responsible gambling.
Different states focus on various aspects of responsible gambling, so it's important to look at each state's rules to understand their approach. However, this report shows that some states have stricter responsible gambling rules than others.
The following states and D.C. meet 40 or more standards: Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.
These states meet between 25 and 39 standards: Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, and Vermont.
These states meet between 10 and 24 standards: Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Nevada, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Additional Responsible Gambling Tips
In addition to setting budgets and time limits while gambling, the Responsible Gambling Council has a list of tips on its website, including:
- Don’t gamble when you’re upset or stressed
- Limit your alcohol and/or cannabis intake while gambling
- Don’t try to win back what you’ve lost
FanDuel's "My Spend" tool and other responsible gaming efforts actively help protect people from the risks of gambling. Since the odds often mean losing more than winning over time, these tools empower users to set limits and manage their spending. By focusing on responsible behavior, more and more companies are showing a strong commitment to making sure players gamble safely and sustainably.
