Their starting pitchers have gone five innings or fewer in four straight games, with no days off during that span, so their bullpen is taxed right now.
That's why they'll need a strong outing from Reid Detmers tonight. The talented lefty has been pitching well lately, going six innings in each of his last two starts, including seven against the Yankees, where he allowed only one run. The Royals have a 70 wRC+ against lefties (26th), so Detmers has a chance for a quality start.
