Florida vs Vanderbilt College Basketball Betting Preview

Florida Basketball

Florida is rolling. The Gators have won three straight games while scoring over 90 points in each.

The advantage for Florida in every game lies in its frontcourt, led by Thomas Haugh. In Florida's four SEC games, Haugh has scored over 20 points in three.

An unsung hero for Florida recently has been Rueben Chinyelu. In his past two games, he had 19 points and 12 rebounds against Oklahoma, and 17 points and 16 rebounds against Tennessee.

As much as the frontcourt has been a positive for the Gators, the backcourt has been arguably as big a con, until recently.

Boogie Fland got his haircut before the Tennessee game, and he finished that game with 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting. Add in his 15-point, seven-assist performance against Oklahoma, and the Florida backcourt is finally providing some offensive stability.

A name that deserves some recognition as well is Urban Klavzar. As bad as Xaivian Lee has been this year, it seems that Florida is shifting Lee's minutes to Klavzar, who's played more minutes off the bench in the last two games than Lee has as a starter.

Klavzar is a 3-point specialist who's scored in double figures in three straight games and will be relied upon to provide some offense against Vanderbilt's talented backcourt.

Vanderbilt Basketball

Vanderbilt is coming off a rough loss at Texas, where the Commodores were walloped and dropped their first game of the season.

Texas' size really affected Vanderbilt on both ends. The Longhorns out-rebounded Vanderbilt 42-24 and had 30 points in the paint.

The Commodores were held to a season-low 64 points, in large part because they scored zero fast-break points.

Vanderbilt will do everything it can to get out in a run against this Florida team that can be tough to score on in the half-court.

I expect Tyler Tanner and Duke Miles to push the tempo and be aggressive in the half-court, whether it's them finding their shot or attacking Lee and kicking out to Tyler Nickel as the defense collapses on their dribble penetration.

Florida vs. Vanderbilt Betting Analysis

Vanderbilt has scored over 90 points in nine games this season, while Florida has scored over 90 in three straight and six out of its past seven.

Vanderbilt has a significant advantage in the backcourt, and Florida has a significant advantage in the frontcourt.

I see a world where Tanner and Miles each score over 20 points, Nickel hits a few 3s, and the Gators' frontcourt of Alex Condon, Haugh and Chinyelu have their way against the Dores' bigs.

My Pick: Over 161.5 or Better
