Jose Altuve Fantasy Score More Than 8
Right-hander Kyle Gibson takes the mound for the Baltimore Orioles and should be a good fade candidate against the Houston Astros.
It has been a tough year for Gibson, who possesses a fade-worthy 4.98 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. His underlying metrics suggest positive regression is unlikely as the right-hander ranks in the 29th percentile or lower in xERA, xBA and average exit velocity.
The first Houston hitter to back is Jose Altuve. Entering this contest in good form, Altuve has surpassed this figure in each of his past three games and is averaging 18.7 fantasy points per game over that stretch.
Altuve has been torching right-handers all season to the tune of a .327 BA, a .581 SLG and .990 OPS. Considering Gibson's poor performance and underlying metrics, we will likely see more of the same from Altuve on Tuesday.
Yordan Alvarez Fantasy Score More Than 8
The other Astros hitter to back is Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez is putting together another monster season and boasts a .300 BA, a .591 SLG and a 1.004 OPS.
Like Altuve, Alvarez enters this matchup in good form and has surpassed this number in four of his past five games. He's averaging 12.2 fantasy points per game over that span and that success is likely to continue against Gibson, a pitcher whom Alvarez owns a .304 xBA, .436 xSLG and a .404 xwOBA against.
Finally, his splits jump by approximately 15% when facing right-handed pitching this year.
Adley Rutschman Fantasy Score More Than 7
We are also going to back a member of the Baltimore Orioles in this matchup against Houston right-hander Hunter Brown.
It hasn't been the strongest campaign for Brown, who is 11-11 with a 4.61 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP through 28 appearances. And that brings us to Adley Rutschman, who is shaping up to be one of baseball's future stars.
Rutschman ranks in the 73rd percentile or higher in xwOBA, xBA, xSLG and Sweet-Spot%. Rutschman is also in good form and has posted seven or more fantasy points in each of the past three games.
It wouldn't be all that shocking if he keeps it going against Brown, whom he's 2-for-3 against with a homer and a single. The switch-hitter has also traditionally fared better against right-handed pitching as his career splits jump by roughly 12% when doing so.
