We have a stacked 15-game MLB slate on Friday, which means there are plenty of entries to sift through on PrizePicks.
A quick refresher if you aren’t familiar with PrizePicks: You can combine up to five different player squares to pay out up to 10x your entry.
You can do a Flex Play or a Power Play. A Flex Play provides lesser odds, but you can win money even if you don’t nail every pick. A Power Play is all-or-nothing.
Here’s how I would approach Friday's MLB slate.
What is PrizePicks? A daily fantasy operator — meaning they’re available in more states (30) than sports betting is! — PrizePicks offers a unique opportunity for action on player picks in which you combine two or more entries together.
Trea Turner Fantasy Score More Than 7.5
Right-hander Tylor Megill takes the mound for the New York Mets and should be a good fade candidate against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Megill has never really been able to get it going since entering the big leagues a few years ago and has a 4.94 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP through 23 starts this season. His analytics suggest positive regression is unlikely as the right-hander ranks in the 25th percentile or lower in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity, Barrel% and Hard-Hit%.
The first Phillies batter to back is Trea Turner. If the Philadelphia fan base had started doing the standing-ovation thing for Turner at the beginning of the year, the guy would probably be an MVP candidate.
Over his past 42 games, Turner boasts a .353 BA, a .712 SLG and a 1.115 OPS with 16 homers. He's only seen Megill once before, but he went 1-2 with a single and a walk.
Turner has also fared well against right-handed pitching this season as his splits jump by roughly 7% when doing so.
Bryce Harper Fantasy Score More Than 7.5
The other Philadelphia hitter to back is Bryce Harper, another hitter who has completely turned the corner recently. Harper boasts a .289 BA, a .644 SLG and a 1.056 OPS with 14 homers over his past 42 games.
He has surpassed this number in each of the past five games and is averaging 12.4 fantasy points per game over that stretch. Like Turner, Harper has fared well against right-handed pitching as his splits jump by approximately 9% when doing so this year.
Francisco Lindor Fantasy Score More Than 7
We are also going to back a member of the New York Mets against Philadelphia right-hander Taijuan Walker.
It has been a tough campaign for Walker, who owns a 4.40 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP through 29 starts. Entering this matchup in particularly poor form, the right-hander possesses a 7.27 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP over his past three outings.
Walker's underlying metrics are also poor as he ranks in the 40th percentile or lower in xERA, xBA and Hard-Hit%.
We're going to back Francisco Lindor, who has eclipsed this figure in four of his past five games and is averaging 10 fantasy points per game over that span. There are multiple avenues for Lindor to surpass this number, whether it be in the batter's box or on the base paths, as he's stolen 28 bases this season.
Currently, he ranks in the 63rd percentile or higher in xwOBA, xSLG, average exit velocity, Barrel%, Hard-Hit% and Sweet-Spot%.
