Bo Bichette Fantasy Score Less Than 7
Right-hander Max Scherzer takes the mound for the Texas Rangers and should be a good candidate to back against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Through 26 starts this season, the future Hall-of-Famer is 12-6 with a 3.91 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Scherzer's 3.29 xERA and .205 xBA suggest his most recent performance — a rough start against the Astros — is nothing to worry about.
That brings us to Bo Bichette, who is putting together a very solid campaign in Toronto. With that said, he hasn't been seeing the ball as well lately.
Bichette has recorded fewer than seven fantasy points in three of his past four games and is averaging just four fantasy points per game over that stretch. This mini-slump could continue against Scherzer, a pitcher whom Bichette is hitless against through three career plate appearances.
Finally, Bichette's splits drop by roughly 21% this season when facing right-handed pitching.
Corey Seager Fantasy Score Less Than 8
We are also going to fade a couple of Texas hitters as left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu takes the mound for the Blue Jays.
After missing most of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Ryu has come back in great form. Over seven starts, he is 3-2 with a 2.65 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. Until he proves otherwise, Ryu should continue to be trusted.
The first Rangers hitter to fade is Corey Seager. Yes, Seager has put together a monster year, but eight is a lot of fantasy points against someone in Ryu's form, especially considering that Seager is 0-2 against Ryu in his career.
While that's obviously a small sample size, Seager typically struggles against left-handed pitching as his splits drop by roughly 31% this year when facing southpaws.
Marcus Semien Fantasy Score Less Than 7.5
Marcus Semien is also worth fading as he's failed to surpass this number in two of his past three games.
Through five career plate appearances against Ryu, Semien is 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. His metrics over that sample suggest positive regression is unlikely as he possesses a .070 xBA, a .136 xSLG and a .085 xwOBA.
Additionally, Semien's splits drop by roughly 3% when facing left-handed pitching this year.
