We have a stacked 15-game MLB slate on Tuesday, which means there are plenty of entries to sift through on PrizePicks.
A quick refresher if you aren’t familiar with PrizePicks: You can combine up to five different player squares to pay out up to 10x your entry.
You can do a Flex Play or a Power Play. A Flex Play provides lesser odds, but you can win money even if you don’t nail every pick. A Power Play is all-or-nothing.
Here’s how I would approach Tuesday's MLB slate for PrizePicks.
What is PrizePicks? A daily fantasy operator — meaning they’re available in more states (30) than sports betting is! — PrizePicks offers a unique opportunity for action on player picks in which you combine two or more entries together.
Ketel Marte Fantasy Score More Than 6.5
Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET
Left-hander Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and now could be a good time to sell high on the future Hall of Famer.
Both his surface-level stats and underlying metrics are strong, but his 3.56 xERA compared to his 2.52 ERA suggests that regression is looming.
The first Arizona hitter to back is Ketel Marte. It has been a strong season for the second baseman, who boasts a .274 BA, .481 SLG and .838 OPS.
Marte has surpassed this number in each of his past three games, averaging 12.7 fantasy points over that stretch. I am not too concerned with his matchup against Kershaw considering that Marte owns a .256 BA, .558 SLG and .344 wOBA with three homers in 44 career plate appearances against the left-hander.
Corbin Carroll Fantasy Score More Than 7
Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET
The other Diamondbacks hitter to back is Corbin Carroll.
The clear frontrunner for NL Rookie of the Year, Carroll has burst onto the scene as a well-rounded superstar, posting a .279 BA, .515 SLG and .876 OPS through 127 games. He is also a monster on the base paths, swiping 40 bags and only trailing Ronald Acuna Jr. in the NL in that stat.
Like Marte, Carroll enters this contest in good form as he has surpassed this figure in four of his past five games, averaging 15.4 fantasy points over that span. Also like Marte, Carroll has had success against Kershaw.
While it is a much smaller sample size, the rookie outfielder is 2-for-5 with a home run against the left-hander.
Freddie Freeman Fantasy Score More Than 8.5
Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET
We are also going to back a couple of Los Angeles hitters in this game, starting with Freddie Freeman.
Right-hander Merrill Kelly takes the mound for Arizona, and he boasts strong surface-level stats with underlying metrics that suggest regression is looming. Kelly ranks in the 47th percentile or lower in average exit velocity, HardHit%, xBA and Barrel%.
This regression could come to fruition against this tremendous Dodgers lineup.
In 26 career plate appearances against Kelly, Freeman boasts a .333 BA, .667 SLG and .440 wOBA with a homer and five doubles. Not only has Freeman put together yet another MVP-worthy campaign, but he enters this contest in particularly good form as he has surpassed this number in four of his past five games, averaging 13 fantasy points over that stretch.
Mookie Betts Fantasy Score More Than 8.5
Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET
Speaking of MVP-worthy campaigns, Mookie Betts is certainly making the conversation interesting as he has closed the gap between himself and Acuna.
Betts possesses a .312 BA, .606 SLG and 1.012 OPS with 35 home runs. His underlying metrics are unsurprisingly incredible, ranking in the 94th percentile or higher in average exit velocity, xwOBA, xBA and xSLG.
Betts also enters this matchup in good form, surpassing this figure in four of his past five games, averaging 13.2 fantasy points over that span. Like Freeman, Betts has thrived against Kelly, boasting a .233 BA, .567 SLG and .374 wOBA with three homers in 34 career plate appearances against the right-hander.
