Leicester City welcomes Brentford to King Power Stadium on Sunday for the opening match for both clubs in this Premier League campaign.

The Foxes made a run to the Europa Conference League semifinal round last season, but slipped in their domestic form and failed to qualify for Europe.

Meanwhile, the Bees achieved their goal of staying in the English top flight, finishing comfortably outside the relegation zone in 13th place.

These teams played in higher-scoring matches last season, so I think that's going to carry over into the opener.

Leicester City

After back-to-back campaigns of just missing out on the Champions League, the eighth-place finish last campaign could have been looked at as a step in the wrong direction, but there were a lot of things that went against Leicester.

For starters, manager Brendan Rodgers was limited for most of the season with multiple players dealing with injuries, especially on defense. Rodgers then shifted his focus to winning the European competition, which won’t be an issue this time around.

Stars Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans are still at the club for this match, which has to be the main priority during this transfer window.

By The Numbers

  • 1 — At home last season, Leicester City only lost to one team (Everton) that finished in the bottom half of the table.
  • 68 — The percentage of Foxes' games last campaign that saw the highest number of both teams scoring in the EPL.

Brentford

The biggest question surrounding Brentford is how the team will cope without signing Christian Eriksen, who was a key figure at the club toward the back half of the 2021-22 campaign.

In the transfer window, the Bees have added Keane Lewis-Potter from Hull City, full back Aaron Hickey and former Burnley defender Ben Mee.

None of these players figure to fill the void left by Eriksen, but manager Thomas Frank will still like his chances of staying in the first division.

By The Numbers

  • -8.3 — On the road last season, Brentford finished with this negative xGDiff compared to the +6.8 xGDiff at home, according to fbref.com.
  • 1 — The Bees went away from home and beat West Ham United and Wolverhampton in the first seven matches of the 2021-22 campaign. However, they only won once more on the road against a Top 10 side (Chelsea) for the remainder of the season.

Betting Analysis & Pick

When I look at the odds, I want to back the home team, but I need a better price than what is currently being offered on the moneyline.

So, my best bet is to play a Single Game Parlay being offered at BetMGM that pairs a Leicester victory with the Both Teams to Score (Yes) at +240 odds.

I mentioned how profitable the BTTS wager was in the Foxes’ fixtures, but it also cashed in 63 percent of Brentford road games.

Rodgers always seems to get his team up for lesser foes at home, and while he still has his stars, I think this is a great spot to take a shot at this sort of play.

The Pick: Single Game Parlay — Leicester City ML & Both Teams to Score — Yes (+240)
