If there was ever a photo that perfectly describes what Sam Allardyce must be feeling right now, it has to be the one attached to this story.
The West Bromwich Albion manager and his team have their backs against the wall in their desperate fight to stay afloat in the Premier League. The Baggies are 11 points from safety, meaning pretty much every match the rest of the way has to be a win to have any chance of keeping their place in England's top flight.
West Brom will hope it can put together a big effort Monday when it hosts middle-of-the-pack Wolves, highlighting the two-match card.
Fun fact: These clubs have only played each other three times in the last decade, with West Brom winning all three affairs. Let's see if the Baggies can keep that perfect run going against Wolves in this latest showdown.
West Brom
That eerie "tick-tock-tick-tock" sound you hear around The Hawthorns would be nothing of concern in normal times. However, these aren't normal times.
It's actually the sound of West Brom’s time in England’s first division slowly ticking away, haunting Allardyce and his lads. To say the Baggies are in dire straits would be the definition of an understatement, as Allardyce attempts to add another "great escape" to his coaching résumé.
West Brom had things going in the right direction, picking up huge wins against Chelsea and Southampton in its push toward safety. Then, things went south when the Baggies were dealt a 3-0 rout against Leicester City at King Power Stadium before a gutting 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.
When it comes to expected goals, West Brom has been miserable of late. The Baggies lost the xG battle in all but one of their last five matches — they topped Southampton by a 2.9-2.4 xG margin — but were still able to manufacture seven points from those games.
Wolves
If you're looking for teams with absolutely nothing to play for the rest of their campaigns, Wolverhampton is the poster child of the group. And by the looks of what happened last time out on home soil at Molineux Stadium, Wolves are clearly living up to that billing.
Burnley came to town and thoroughly manhandled its uninspired host, getting a first-half hat trick from Chris Wood en route to a 4-0 blowout. The Clarets, who have had a season to forget as they sit in 16th place in the table, held a 2.1-0.3 xG advantage when it was all said and done.
Wolverhampton won its two previous matches before the rout, beating relegation sides Sheffield United and Fulham by identical 1-0 score lines. However, something clearly changed against Burnley, and it's a trend I see continuing moving forward.

Not to sound like a broken record, but which team needs a result more than the other? That's a pretty easy question to answer after what you've learned.
West Brom's chances of staying up continue to fade with every missed point and non-winning result. Needless to say, this fixture defines a "must-win" spot for the Baggies, which is why I'm backing them via a Draw No Bet wager at -106 odds at DraftKings as my top pick.
I'm also playing the total to stay under the alternative number of 2.25 goals for two reasons. West Brom has kept clean sheets against Wolverhampton in five of its last seven matches across all competitions. When you combine that with the fact Wolves seem to have mailed it in following that Burnley debacle, you have to like your chances of a low-scoring match.
