Mac Jones began the day as the betting favorite to go third overall and ended it as the final pick of the consensus top-five quarterbacks in the NFL Draft.

Jones' slide ended at 15, right in the range he was projected before the San Francisco 49ers traded up earlier in the offseason, and it ended with a team he was tied to throughout. Jones joins the New England Patriots as what Bill Belichick is hoping is the long-term option after losing Tom Brady to the Buccaneers a season ago.

Jones wasn't the only quarterback to fall, as no one traded up to take Justin Fields inside the top 10. Instead, the Chicago Bears moved up to No. 11 in a trade with the New York Giants to take the Ohio State product.

Fields joins a quarterback room with Andy Dalton and Nick Foles but will carry the pressure of being a quarterback that actually succeeds with the Bears. That didn't work the last time Chicago traded up for a quarterback when the Bears drafted Mitchell Trubisky over Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, in case you hadn't heard.

Fields was +1000 entering the day to be drafted by the Bears, but he went over the 7.5 draft position prop.

The pick didn't have an immediate impact on NFL futures, and while Action Network NFL analyst Chris Raybon sees it as an upgrade for the Bears, don't expect a quick payoff.

"This Bears team will still likely be the worst in the Matt Nagy era," he said. "They’re the clear third-best team in the division for me behind Green Bay and Minnesota. I also think there will be growing pains for Fields without elite weapons (outside of Allen Robinson) and a shaky offensive line that finished 25th in PFF team pass blocking grade a year ago. But I commend the Bears for making the move, because when you have Andy Dalton and Nick Foles as your quarterback, you have no quarterback."

Meanwhile, the Patriots were +400 weeks ago to select a quarterback with their first pick, but that number dropped to +200 before closing at +125. Jones to the Patriots was in the +180 range depending on the sportsbook of choice.
