Few props have gained popularity quicker than first and anytime touchdown scorers since legal sports betting launched in the United States.

Touchdown props have existed for a while, but most people didn't have access if they were betting with a local bookie or friends.

Now, touchdown scorers among the most-bet props for standalone NFL games, the Super Bowl included.

So where should you bet these props?

Well, wherever you can get the best price on the player you want to bet. However, some sportsbooks consistently offer better prices than others and you should start your shopping there.

You can tell which books have the best prices by calculating the hold — defined as the percentage of money wagered that the sportsbook would keep if the bet played out an infinite number of times.

The higher the hold, the worse it is for the bettor. A hold around 4% is common for point spreads; for first TD bets, it's usually north of 30%.

Grading on a combination of best odds and players offered, here are the five best sportsbooks to bet both first touchdowns and anytime touchdowns.

First Touchdown Breakdown

Hold Percentage by Book

Lower hold is going to lead to better prices, so let's take a look at that first. We tracked first touchdown hold percentage across every NFL playoff game in 2022.

I've purposely omitted books like Caesars that do not offer every player, but also do not offer a "field" option. You can't calculate an accurate hold and it's an unfavorable setup for bettors anyway.

SportsbookAverage Hold
SuperBook USA**6.9%**
Circa Sports22%
BetMGM23%
Borgata23%
Play Up25.9%
Kambi* (Barstool, BetRivers)34.7%*
DraftKings42.3%
FanDuel42.5%
Fox Bet47.9%
Bet36547.9%
PointsBet55.5%
Betfred/Wynn/Hard Rock/Golden Nugget65.5%

*Kambi is an odds provider that supplies odds to many American sportsbooks, which is why their prices are always the same.

**SuperBook normally offers both sides of first touchdown bets:

  • Derrick Henry will score the first TD at +390
  • Derrick Henry will not score the first TD at -650

On average, their hold is about 7%. But assuming you want to bet "yes" like most people, it may not always be the best price.

OK, now onto the best books:

5 Best Books for First TD Bets

1. BetMGM

  • States Available: AZ, CO, IN, IA, MI, NJ, NV, NY, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY

BetMGM often has the most favorable pricing and offers nearly every player.

For the Super Bowl, among the major sportsbooks in at least five states, MGM has the best price on seven of the first eight players on the board.

2. Circa Sports

  • States Available: CO, IA, NV

Circa, arguably the sharpest book in the United States, has a unique setup that's favorable for bettors.

They normally offer fewer players than other books, but also offer an option for "Field" at around +1350 odds. That means you can bet on any player not listed to score first, and if they do, you'd win the bet.

A book like Caesars lists fewer players like Circa, but not the field option. So if a player not listed scores, you lose your bet, and you didn't even have a chance to take the guy who scored, because the field wasn't an option.

For the Super Bowl, Circa is going all out. It has a whopping 93 players listed to score the first touchdown — yes, even kickers and punters. And their hold is still among the best in the country despite all the options.

3. SuperBook

  • States Available: AZ, CO, NJ, NV

SuperBook is one of the only books we found that offers the "no" option on first touchdowns.

This actually creates the lowest hold of any sportsbook. That doesn't mean they have the best price on every individual player to score the first TD — MGM often has a better price — but giving the "no" option creates a well-priced market.

For the Super Bowl, SuperBook is treating it like other books, and has pricing comparable to Circa and MGM.

4. Kambi (BetRivers, Barstool, etc.)

  • States available: AZ, CO, CT, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ, NY, PA, TN, VA, WV, LA

Kambi is a sportsbook data provider that supplies odds to a bunch of U.S. books — Barstool, BetRivers, Parx, Unibet.

Their pricing is rarely as good as BetMGM, but they offer a lot of players and sometimes have the best price, often in the mid-tier of players — second-string running backs, tight ends, etc.

For the Super Bowl, Kambi has the best price on:

  • Sony Michel +1800
  • Tyler Higbee +2200
  • Darrell Henderson +2500

5. DraftKings

  • States available: AZ, CO, CT, IL, IN, IA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OR, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY, LA

DraftKings has a similar offering to Kambi — lots of players available, average pricing (though slightly worse than Kambi over our sample).

DraftKings often has among the best odds on players at the top of the board. Our Super Bowl comparison to MGM from above shows that — they have the best or second best price on five of the top eight players.

Where DK usually has worse pricing is in the mid-tier — second-string RBs, tight ends, QBs.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer

Anytime TD bets are arguably more popular than first TD bets now.

It's difficult to calculate the total hold for some anytime touchdown markets because books all treat it differently.

For example, FanDuel had Packers D/ST at +550 to score against the 49ers, while DraftKings only counts defensive touchdowns (and has that line at a worse price of +450 anyway). Most books offer only a handful of players but don't offer a "this player won't score a TD" option, so they can set the prices however they want.

SuperBook offers just a handful of players to score, but also offers the "No touchdown" option for those players (which is a good thing). So, you can get the hold for each player, but not the entire market.

So, let's take the top nine players at each book for the Super Bowl, plus both quarterbacks, who are often popular anytime TD bets.

I also divided by three to get something resembling a real hold percentage, assuming these top 11 players will score about three touchdowns total in the Super Bowl.

Now, let's look at individual players and who has the best prices. Unlike first touchdown — where MGM dominates — it's much more spread out.

1. SuperBook

  • States Available: AZ, CO, NJ, NV

If you're a contrarian and want to take a player to not score a touchdown, SuperBook is your spot.

You can get Cooper Kupp at -160 to score and +140 to not score. Or Cam Akers at +110 to score and -130 to not score. That's incredibly fair pricing.

Even if you only want to bet "Yes", SuperBook has among the best pricing.

2. Bet365

  • States Available: NJ

Bet365 is only available in New Jersey, but it frequently has the best prices on anytime touchdown scorers.

3. Circa Sports

  • States Available: CO, IA, NV

Circa has strong pricing across the board and anytime touchdowns are no different.

4. Kambi (Barstool, Rivers, etc.)

  • States available: AZ, CO, CT, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ, NY, PA, TN, VA, WV, LA

Kambi often has good pricing on what I'd call "longshots with a reasonable chance." Backup running backs and tight ends, receivers who play just a few snaps per game.

These are the players Kambi had the best price for in Packers-49ers in the NFC Divisional Round:

PlayerOdds
Trey Lance (backup QB)+1000
Equanimeous St. Brown (backup WR)+1050
Jimmy Garoppolo (QB)+1100
JaMycal Hasty (backup RB)+1200
Jeff Wilson (backup RB)+1600

5. BetMGM

  • States Available: AZ, CO, IN, IA, MI, NJ, NV, NY, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY

MGM doesn't have the same elite pricing like it does on first TD scorers, but you can find some good value here.

MGM often has the best prices on all the extreme longshots — guys who might see the field for a couple plays per game or play only special teams.
