The Clemson Tigers have held a supreme reign over the ACC during the Dabo Swinney era.

They've won seven ACC Championships since Swinney took over in 2009, including six in a row from 2015-2020.

One reason Clemson has dominated the ACC is its ability to go on the road and beat other top programs in the conference.

The Tigers have one of those matchups this weekend as they head to Winston-Salem to face the No. 21 Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

This is a spot that Swinney has been very comfortable in throughout his tenure.

Clemson is 34-27 (55.7%) against the spread when playing an opponent ranked No. 21 or higher on the road during Swinney's tenure. Limit that to just ACC opponents and the record is even better — 30-19 (61.2%) ATS.

The Tigers have proven they're intimidated in hostile ACC environments.

In fact, Clemson has been even better over the past five years when playing top opponents on the road.

Swinney and his Tigers are 12-6 ATS when playing an opponent ranked No. 21 or higher on the road since 2008. In the ACC, they are a whopping 9-2 ATS over the past five years.

One of the toughest things to do in college football is go into a ranked opponent's house and beat them. Swinney has figured out the formula to not only win, but to also cover the spread and make Clemson backers happy.
