Malcolm Brogdon to Celtics Makes Boston Title, Eastern Conference Favorite

The Boston Celtics are now favorites to win the 2022-23 NBA title at a few shops after acquiring Malcolm Brogdon from the IndianaPacers on Friday afternoon.

FanDuel lists the Celtics at +500 to cut down the nets — ahead of the Bucks and Suns (both +600) — while books such as BetMGM and Draftings tab the C's as co-favorites at +550.

FanDuel, meanwhile, adjusted Boston from +290 to +220 in the Eastern Conference title market. The Celtics jumped the Bucks, who moved back from +280 to +300.

The Celtics shipped off Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith and a first-round pick in return for Brogdon, who gives the storied franchise a scoring punch in the back court with Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown.

Brogdon, 29, averaged more than 20 points and roughly six assists per game over the last two campaigns with the Pacers.

The Celtics couldn't pull off the biggest longshot in history this past season against the Warriors, but they were a great bet nonetheless: Boston finished sixth in the league in cover rate at 55.3% (57-46-3 against the spread).

This is the second time in as many days the title odds have gone off the rails.
