Diamondbacks vs. Guardians — No Runs First Inning (-136)

On Tuesday, we travel to Cleveland to find value in a NRFI between the Guardians and the Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks will start their ace in Zac Gallen. Coming into today, he holds a terrific 16-3 NRFI record with seven of those 16 wins coming on the road.

In 70 first-inning batters faced, Gallen has only allowed 10 hits and three walks while holding his first-inning opponents to a .154 average. When facing hitters the first time through the lineup Gallen holds a .165 average against.

Here is how Gallen has done in the past against these Guardians bats:

• Amed Rosario: 1-for-4
• Josh Naylor: 0-for-5
• Austin Hedges: 0-for-4

The Guardians are on an NRFI tear, going 9-1 in their last 10 games, making them NRFI 72% of the time in 2022.

The Guardians will counter with Triston McKenzie. Coming into today, he is 13-5 to the NRFI. When facing hitters for the first time he is holding his own, only allowing a .182 average.

On top of this McKenzie holds a batting order split that is very important when betting an NRFI. McKenzie is holding lead-off hitters to a .160 average in 2022.

He has not faced any of these Diamondbacks hitters, leaving the edge of unfamiliarity to McKenzie.
