How Texas Rangers World Series Odds Changed After Corey Seager Signing

The Texas Rangers have signed former Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager to a 10-year, $325 million contract, according to ESPN.
The signing comes mere days after shortstop Marcus Semien and pitcher Jon Gray joined the Rangers in free agency, too.
The Rangers' odds to win the World Series have changed from 150-1 to 90-1 at DraftKings since all three were signed.
Seager's signing alone moved the Rangers' World Series odds from 100-1 to 90-1 — a steep 10% change for one player.
Seager had been +400 to sign with the Rangers at one offshore sportsbook, which were the fourth-best odds. The Dodgers were the favorites at +150, the Yankees were second-best at +200, and the Houston Astros had been third at +300.
The Seattle Mariners (6-1), New York Mets (7-1), Detroit Tigers (+750), St. Louis Cardinals (10-1), Toronto Blue Jays( 12-1) and Colorado Rockies (14-1) were the other teams listed in contention to sign Seager.
The Rangers are even money favorites at the same sportsbook to sign Seager's former teammate Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is also a free agent.
The Los Angeles Angels are 2-1, second-best favorites while the incumbent Dodgers are third-best at +300.
Seager had slashed .297/.367/.504 with 104 home runs and 364 RBI in over six seasons with the Dodgers.
He had perhaps his best season last year, when he slashed .306/.394/.521 in over 400 plate appearances. And that's even after he suffered a fracture to his right hand in the middle of the season.
Seager won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2016 and aided heavily in the Dodgers' 2020 World Series victory.
The Rangers' pennant odds have also improved to +4000, but it's still the second-worst mark behind the Baltimore Orioles.
It's the second time today that a Dodgers free agent has left the team. Max Scherzer signed a record three-year, $130 million contract with the New York Mets earlier on Monday.
The Dodgers will receive a compensatory pick after the fourth round in next year's draft because Seager was offered a $18.4 million qualifying offer.
