An afterthought earlier this season in Kansas City, Jorge Soler picked the right time and place to shine over the course of six games.

Soler was named World Series MVP after the Atlanta Braves topped the Houston Astros in Game 6, 7-0, to take the series 4-2. Max Fried pitched six innings to earn the win.

Soler homered three times in the series, including one to lead off the entire series in Game 1, the game-winner in Game 4 and a three-run shot to give the Braves a 3-0 lead in the final game of the series.

The outfielder entered the series as a bit of a longshot with +3500 odds at BetMGM. That was a bet Action Network analyst Sean Zerillo recommended before Game 1.

Soler was acquired at the trade deadline as Atlanta re-made its outfield on the fly. In exchange, the Royals acquired minor league pitcher Kasey Kalich.

Soler, along with Eddie Rosario, Joc Pederson and Adam Duvall, helped replace the injured Ronald Acuña Jr. and the suspended Marcell Ozuna. At the time, Soler was hitting .192 with 13 homers in 94 games.

He hit 14 home runs in 55 games with the Braves. He's set to be a free agent this offseason.

Other candidates to win the award included Freddie Freeman, Tyler Matzek and others.

This was the first World Series for the Braves since 1995. The Braves were +130 to win the World Series before Game 1. Houston was the -150 favorite.
