Angels vs. Mariners — No Runs First Inning (-146)

On Friday, we travel to Seattle to find value in a NRFI between the Mariners and the Angels.

The Mariners will send out their ace in Robbie Ray. Coming into today, Ray is 17-4 to the NRFI with an impressive 10-1 home NRFI split. In 87 first-inning batters, Ray has only allowed a .218 average with 20 first-inning strikeouts.

Here is how Ray has done in the past against these Angels hitters:

• Taylor Ward: 0-for-3
• Luis Rengifo: 0-for-2
• Max Stassi: 1-for-2

Some key Angels hitters have also entered a slump as well:

• Jared Walsh: 2-for-22
• Taylor Ward: 3-for-18
• Jo Adell: 3-for-16

The Angels will counter with Patrick Sandoval. Coming into today, Sandoval is 12-5 to the NRFI. In 72 first-inning batters faced, like Ray, he has held them in check only allowing a .206 average.

Here is how Sandoval has fared in the past matchups:

• J.P Crawford: 2-for-18
• Ty France: 4-for-11
• Carlos Santana: 0-for-2
• Eugenio Suarez: 1-for-8

It should be noted that Kyle Lewis and Crawford have both struggled since the All-Star break, both hitting under .150 in their last seven days.

The Angels NRFI on the road 78% of the time in 2022 and without Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon they have struggled offensively.

The Mariners have achieved the NRFI 71% of the time in 2022, but without Julio Rodriguez, in the leadoff spot, we will look to see an increase in this number while he remains on the IL.
