William Hill Goes Live With Online Sports Betting in Colorado and West Virginia

Two of the country's sports betting markets are expanding by adding a new operator into the mix.

William Hill has officially launched in Colorado and West Virginia; they're the fourth and fifth states to add the European betting giant to the online mix.

In addition to the typical pregame and live bets that are available, the company's online betting app offers multiple ways to deposit and withdraw funds.

New customers who sign up and make a digital deposit will receive up to a $500 free bet after registering.

William Hill's launch in Colorado is just another day for the Centennial State.

Since launching legalized sports betting on May 1, Colorado has added the likes of DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers, BetMGM, theScore Bet, and FOX Bet. William Hill makes it 13 sportsbooks with online betting in the state.

The state's market seems to grow by the day, as it did everything right when it first legalizing sports betting.

Its full online betting experience, coupled with its low barrier for entry for sportsbooks, has made it a hotbed for operators in just a few short months.

It made good on its potential in May, bringing in a handle of $25.6 million, forecasting a bright sports betting future for the state despite launching in the middle of a pandemic.

Having four professional sports teams across the country's four major leagues doesn't hurt its cause either.

On the West Virginia side of things, William Hill is far from the first sportsbook to launch in the state.

The Mountain State began accepting legal wagers less than three and a half months after the Supreme Court struck PASPA down. It quickly became the fifth state to launch legalized sports betting, following Nevada, New Jersey, Mississippi, and Delaware.

William Hill's entrance into the market means the state now has four major operators. In addition to William Hill, DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM have been up and running.

The number has increased since full mobile betting went live in August 2019.

Although there are no major professional teams in the state, college athletics — namely West Virginia University — will help propel sports betting in the state.

Its full online betting laws will allow the state to gain revenue rapidly while being beneficial to both users and operators.

With NFL and college football coming back — in addition to returns of MLB, NBA, WNBA, and golf — William Hill picked a good time to expand its brand in the United States.
