Arizona Sports Betting Live With 6 Sportsbooks: What to Know, How to Sign Up, More

Arizona’s first legal online sportsbooks are now taking bets.

Top sports betting operators, including FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM and Caesars, started accepting at 12:01 a.m. local time Thursday. Other growing books, including WynnBet, also confirmed with the Action Network they were taking bets Thursday morning, the first day legal operators could accept wagers under Arizona regulations. As of Thursday afternoon, Unibet also got into the mix, launching its betting product in the state.

As many as 10 more operators have announced plans to do so in the coming weeks. Arizona’s 2021 sports betting law will allow as many as 20 total online operators, though not all of them are expected to be taking bets before year’s end.

Eligible bettors age 21 and up physically within state lines can register, deposit and wager from a mobile device. Arizona’s licensed digital sportsbooks are available statewide, though there are certain exceptions on sovereign tribal lands and federal property.

Arizona sportsbooks will allow moneyline, point spread, total, prop and parlay bets on dozens of foreign and domestic professional leagues. Bettors can also wager on thousands of live and in-play competitions.

Thursday’s launch allows Arizona bettors to place wagers on the 2021 NFL season opener between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The hometown Arizona Cardinals kick off their regular season Sunday at the TennesseeTitans.

Bettors can also wager on the Arizona Diamondbacks, as they play out the stretch of their 2021 campaign. Futures for the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Coyotes are offered, as both teams gear up for their respective upcoming seasons.

Additionally, Arizona sportsbooks allow betting on in-state college basketball and football programs, including the University of Arizona and Arizona State.

Three additional sportsbook operator licensees have not yet announced their respective partners, but are expected to do so in the coming weeks or months. Arizona law allows two more licenses for professional sports organizations, but are not expected to be awarded in the near future.

This means Arizona bettors could plausibly have as many as 18 legal betting options by the end of 2021. Though this trails the 25 live betting options in Colorado, the national leader, the total is still among the nation’s highest operator totals.

With Arizona’s launch, 24 states — plus Washington D.C. — have at least one legal sportsbook option, though six of those states still forbid mobile wagering and only 12 have multiple statewide mobile operators.

In-Person Betting Options

Arizona’s in-person, retail sportsbooks are also allowed to open Thursday.

Arizona is the first state to allow both in-stadium sportsbooks and in-person betting at Native American gaming facilities. A handful of sports venues and tribal casinos are expected to take their first bets Thursday with a growing number set to join them as the 2021 football season progresses.

The following sports facilities have announced sportsbook plans. Each is contracted with an exclusive partner:

• State Farm Stadium (NFL’s Arizona Cardinals – BetMGM)

• Phoenix Raceway (NASCAR – Barstool Sportsbook)

The Coyotes are also allowed to open a retail sportsbook, but have not announced a partner and are set to leave their current venue, Glendale’s Gila River Arena, after the upcoming NHL season.

As many as 19 tribes are planning to open retail sportsbooks at each of their respective casino gaming properties. Though only 10 tribes earned online licenses, each of the 19 that approved a 2021 gaming compact is permitted to open a retail book."
