Arizona sports betting handle numbers from April have been released, and the state generated almost 26% less than it did the previous month.

Arizona generated $512.8 million in sports betting revenue in April, which is a big drop from March. Sports betting revenue from April was Arizona's second-lowest total generated in 2022.

The Arizona betting handle from March was $691 million. Some of that decline can be attributed to the close of the NCAA men's basketball March Madness tournament which clearly contributed to March's handle spike.

Here are the Arizona betting handles that have been released this year so far:

  • January — $563.6 million
  • February — $491.6 million
  • March — $691 million
  • April — $512.8 million

The numbers from April include the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, the opening month of the MLB season, last month of the NHL and NBA regular seasons, and the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Mobile sports betting generated $509.5 million in April while retail sports betting generated $3.3 million. That equates to 99.3% of the total revenue from sports betting was generated by online wagering.

Top 3 Arizona Sportsbooks

For April, the top three sportsbooks based on sports betting handle were:

  1. DraftKings — $155.9 Million
  2. FanDuel — $149.8 Million
  3. BetMGM — $100.6 Million

These three Arizona sportsbooks continue to lead the way as they accounted for $406.4 million dollars, which is 79.2% of the total sports betting revenue. The three sportsbooks also accounted for almost the same percentage of the sports betting handle revenue in March.

Only half (9/18) of legal sportsbooks in Arizona eclipsed the $1 million revenue mark so the trio of DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM have a firm grasp on the Arizona market.
