Feb. 7 Update: A haul of big bets were reported in the final hour before the Super Bowl began, including a $2.5 million bet, the second-largest on the game.

A bettor at BetMGM risked $2.5 million on the Chiefs moneyline, which would net $1.51 million.

Later, a $1 million teaser was placed on Tampa Bay +9 and over 50. That was also at BetMGM.

The first million-dollar bet came in on the Chiefs as multiple large wagers have been made on Kansas City as the Super Bowl neared.

A bettor at William Hill placed $1.2 million on the Chiefs at -155 to win the game. That's the fourth million-dollar bet reported for the Super Bowl but the first on Kansas City.

At the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, a bettor placed $325,000 on Kansas City -3.  Another $333,000 came in on Kansas City -3 (-120) in Pennsylvania.

Feb. 6 Update: The biggest bets on Super Bowl 55 continue to come in on Tampa Bay.

The Bucs took their third wager worth at least $1 million, this one coming in at BetMGM on the Tampa Bay moneyline (+135).

The Chiefs added another large bet earlier in the day at Borgata. This time it was a $281,000 on Kansas City -3 (-115).

The Buccaneers still lead with the three biggest bets, including $3.46 million and $2.5 million.

Feb. 1 Update: It's not the biggest bet placed on the Super Bowl this year, but the Chiefs took two significant bets on Monday.

A bettor at Caesars Palace placed a $520,000 bet on Chiefs -3 (-120), making it the biggest reported bet on Kansas City yet. BetMGM previously reported multiple wagers worth $100,000. In this case, a Kansas City cover nets $433,333.35.

Most recently, DraftKings Sportsbook took a $200,000 bet on the Chiefs -3 (-116), which would net the bettor $172,000. The wager was the largest bet at DraftKings on Super Bowl 55 to date.

Jan. 29 Update: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have found a Super Bowl believer in a big, big way.

A bettor in Nevada placed a $2.3 million bet on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers at +3.5 (-115) to profit $2 million at BetMGM. The bet was placed on mobile.

The biggest bet placed on last year's Super Bowl was for $750,000 on Kansas City -1.5.

The line remained at 3.5 at time of publish.

Jan. 26 Update: Tom Brady might be playing in his record 10th Super Bowl, but he and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting no respect in the betting market.

Since the Super Bowl LV betting line opened at Chiefs -3.5 and quickly moved to -3, bettors can’t get enough of Kansas City.

BetMGM and DraftKings each reported most of the early wagers were on the Chiefs. At BetMGM, 76 percent of bets and 80 percent of the money are on Kansas City. DraftKings reported similar numbers with 77 percent of bets and 81 percent of money on the defending Super Bowl champions.

At PointsBet, it was even more drastic. Eighty-two percent of bets and 90 percent of the money is on Kansas City.

Bettors are clearly impressed with Kansas City coming off a win and cover over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game. Still, the Chiefs have only covered twice in their last 10 games.

Tampa Bay has covered four of its last five games, including its last two playoff games as underdogs.

This is only second time that Brady, who is 6-3 straight up and 4-5 ATS in Super Bowls, is an underdog. The other time? In 2002, when the Patriots were 14-point underdogs against the then-St. Louis Rams. Brady and the Patriots won 20-17 to give the Patriots their first Super Bowl ring.

BetMGM’s biggest bets are all on the Chiefs:

  1. $180K to win $100K on Chiefs -180 moneyline
  2. $115K to win $100K on Chiefs -3.5 (-115)
  3. $110K to win $100K on Chiefs -3.5 (-110)
